After teaching memoir and creative writing for a number of years, Coach Ina has developed a set of techniques that help writing teachers teach their students:

  • How to write more creatively, and from the heart.

  • Effective methods that help students' recall become more vivid.

  • Writing tips to pass on to students that make the writing process easier, and more fun!

  • Tips to avoid making common errors, such as when to use "he" vs. "him," and more writerly tips such as how to help students write in their own, unique voices, using dialog and character development to make stories come alive.

  • How to structure classes so that students learn positive critique methods to help others in the class make their own writing clearer and more engaging.

  • Motivating tools, to keep students writing, and complete projects.
  • Ina's Weird Writing Prompts™ specially developed and tested by Ina to bring out creativity.

"Ina --My first day as a facilitator was an absolute success!! There was lots of positive energy, enthusiasm, and participation. I, as well as the 10 people in attendance, can't wait for next week. Thanks again!" Ronda Armstrong, Cleveland, Ohio (coaching sessions by telephone and e-mail)

'How to Write Your Memoirs' by Ina Hillebrandt, the book that inspires you to just get to writing your memoirs, and gives you tips on how to make your writing come alive.
"How to Write Your Memoirs"was written by Ina in response to the request from a writing teacher on the faculty of a university in Texas. She needed help guiding her students through the process of writing their life histories. Since that time, the book has been licensed or bought by teachers at other universities, as well as by individuals or their families.

Teachers are welcome to use the book by itself, or contact Ina for help in keeping students moving forward, making the writing more alive and compelling.

From Michele A. Nuzzo, M.A., certified as a life, career, retirement, and wellness coach. She specializes in midlife transitions, reinvention, and caregiver support. This review is from her blog, Midlife Menu, a place to find many ideas for having a rich, full, life despite the fact that you aren't 29 anymore. Michele told Ina that she has all the classics, but "How to Write Your Memoirs" is the one she turns to most often for clients -- it makes them "want to just do it!"  Thanks, Michele. I feel honored.
